Dolomites Bike Day Tour- Sunday 16th June 2019
Every year in June a number of passionate cyclists meet on the scenic pass roads around the Lagazuoi Mountain for the second Dolomites Bike Day. For the occasion the roads are closed for motorized traffic from 9:30am to 2:30pm and reserved for cyclists.
On this non-competitive day, cyclists of all levels can participate free of charge. The event, thanks to the closure of the roads to motorized vehicles is the perfect opportunity to experience the thrill of pedalling on the roads, which made the history of the Giro d’Italia and the Maratona dles Dolomites.
To the Dolomites Bike Day athletes, passionate riders, outdoor freaks, amateurs and even children can take part and ride as fast and as far they want: The Dolomites, an Eldorado for cyclists, are an extraordinary experience for all of them. The picturesque villages, the scenic pass roads and the imposing Dolomites mountains – UNESCO has declared them a World Heritage site, will remain forever in their best memories.
The circular route, amidst fascinating natural landscapes, leads through some of the most attractive roads and well-known Dolomite passes in South Tyrol and Veneto.
For example, starting from Alta Badia you cycle passing Corvara and up to the Campolongo pass where you ride down to Arabba and Livinallongo. Here you climb the Falzarego pass and the Valparola pass – one of the most fascinating sceneries in the Alps – from where you reach again Alta Badia by cycling downwards to San Cassiano. From San Cassiano you easily reach your starting point.
The route has a total length of 52 km and a total difference in altitude of 1.370 meters. We recommend to ride in anti-clockwise direction.
Sellaronda Bike Day - Saturday 22nd June 2019
Participation in the Sellaronda Bike Day is free. Just start your tour in whichever valley you prefer Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Val di Fassa or Arabba/Livinallongo.

Admire the views of the Dolomites, enjoy a break in the mountain villages along the route, ride with your friends: The Sellaronda Bike Day is a group excursion on two wheels.
The tour of about 53 km through the Dolomite mountain passes of Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Campolongo has a total elevation gain of 1600 meters. We recommend all cyclists to ride in an anti-clockwise direction.

Most cyclists come to Alta Badia between June and September. However those who truly know the region may also favour holidaying here from the end of May or up to mid-October. For these are the times when one can truly relax in Alta Badia. There is less traffic on the roads and one can fully enjoy the landscape and the natural beauty all around.
Late summer and the start of autumn in particular are the times when the Dolomites present themselves in a literally true and magnificent light. The alpine pastures and forests take on atmospheric hues, nature gifts us with a unique interplay of light and shadow and in the evenings the rock formations glow in warm shades of red.
Once praised by Le Corbusier as the most beautiful mountain range in the world, the Dolomites deliver a fabulous and unique display of colours.
The Dolomite mountains, located in the south of the main chain of the Alps, between Adige and Piave, between Val de Puster valley and the Bellunese region, are geopolitically divided between three Italian provinces: South Tyrol, Trento and Belluno.
On 26th of June 2009, the Dolomites were put on the UNESCO list of the world's protected natural paradises and since then, officially rank among the most beautiful mountains in the world.
A particularly spectacular phenomenon which can be experienced very well in the Dolomites is the alpenglow or "Enrosadira" in Ladin language. Upon sundown, the Dolomite mountains around Alta Badia are being illuminated in magnificent shades of red, from pink to orange and carmine - the Santa Croce is a peak especially renowned for its blaze of colour.
The nine mountain ranges of the Dolomites which belong to the UNESCO's World Heritage include the natural parks Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies which extend into Alta Badia.
