Roubaix is located in northern France and if you are riding the long route there is a shuttle from Roubaix to Busigny leaving at 5.30am which needs to be pre-booked.
With the famous Roubaix Velodrome being located in the town itself, the whole place is buzzing for Paris Roubaix over the weekend. The race usually leaves riders caked in mud and grit, from the cobbled roads and rutted tracks.
However, this is not how this race earned the name l'Enfer du Nord, or Hell of the North. The term was used to describe the route of the race after World War I. Organisers and journalists set off from Paris in 1919 to see how much of the route had survived four years of war.
Sections of the route being are also used for the Tour de France. Hence its nickname the "Queen of the Classics"
We advise you fit 25mm tyres on your road bike at a minimum for this event and potentially apply a second layer of bar tape as well.
Furthermore, cold weather gear is essential although recent years have seen sunny conditions.
