Nove Colli - Cesenatico, Adriatic Coast of Italy
"The Queen of the European Gran Fondos" having been started in 1970 by a local cycling club. Translated, Nove Colli is "nine climbs" which means a testing day out in the saddle but one that all riders can tackle.
Both the short and long routes start and finish on the coast in Cesenatico with the climbs taking in the beautiful hills where Marco Pantani trained. The locals treat this as a race and the first and last sections are fast and flat. Once you hit the hills however, you are treated to beautiful Italian countryside with plenty of feed stations, cheering locals and superb riding on closed roads. 'Barbotto' is the most famous climb with ramps up to 20% near the top. This is the final climb for the medium route.
We base you in Cesenatico which gives easy access to the massive Expo on Saturday (make sure you order the race jersey in a large size - they are Italian cut!)
