Held in the town of 'Guasca' in the Guavio Province, part of the Cundinamarca Department located approximately 55 km from Bogotá, Colombia's capital. The GFNY Colombia Gran Fondo route is set to include all the features of a world class Sportive.
It includes mountainous terrain, with the most demanding climb meandering 11km up to Páramo de Guasca (3,365 meters above sea level). Drop the hammer on the timed climb sections for a chance to be crowned king or queen of the mountain.
There are two courses available of 98km or 148km distance.
With close ties to the country (our Co-founder spent 6 months cycling in Colombia in 2016) the trip away will take in 4 days of guided rides exploring the region. Also, you have further time to spend in Bogota with the chance to explore this fine metropolis.
Colombia is situated at the northern tip of the continent of South America. It boasts numerous riches in addition to friendly people. Also, a hugely diverse geography, with Carribean and Pacific coastlines, arid desert in the north, the Amazon to the south and everything in between.
With over 20 years passing since the country's difficult past, today Colombia is a very different place. Secure and surrounded by the warmest and most hospitable people we've ever met. In addition to local knowledge, the trip away this year looks set to be an awesome one. Combining great riding, site seeing and entry to an exciting chapter of a truly global cycling series.
Flights to Bogota, the nearest airport to the event, are regular and are also becoming increasingly cheaper.
