The Maratona dles Dolomites Route
It was the National Geographic magazine which described this event as “one of the biggest, most passionate, and most chaotic bike races on Earth” and, based on the fact that in 2012 some 29,000 riders entered the lottery for the 4800 available spaces, it is also insanely popular! In addition to these 4800 ‘public’ entries, a further 4200 are reserved for travel organisers, charities etc. making a total of 9000 riders abroad in the Dolomites. Add in the fact that there are usually riders from about 40 different countries and it makes for a unique experience.
On the day there are a choice of three courses which allows riders of different abilities (and ambitions) to test themselves.
