GFNY Jerusalem - a race through history
GFNY is coming to Jerusalem. We recommend arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday so you can spend your time riding and seeing historic Jerusalem.
On Friday, your ride will begin at the Jerusalem Arena, from where you will ride right outside Jerusalem's Old City and more of history’s most iconic landmarks dating back more than 3,000 years.
The Jerusalem streets will belong to you as you race by history’s most ancient sights and historical landmarks so you can make your own history.
In addition, at GFNY Jerusalem you will be able to choose between a long and short distance route where everyone is chip timed from start to finish. All riders will receive their overall as well as age group result based on your finish time.
All GFNY Jerusalem top 10% of each age group winners will be seeded in the front corrals for the Campagnolo GFNY Championship in New York City. The day will end with an awards ceremony and big prizes plus a party atmosphere where everyone will celebrate their day’s achievements and battle stories from the race.
Be a Pro for a day! Join the number one global cycling marathon series and race to be the Inaugural GFNY Jerusalem Champion.

The long distance route is a total of 130km with 2,571 metres (8,435 ft.) of elevation gain and four main climbs.
The race will begin at the Jerusalem Sports Center area, between Teddy Stadium and the Jerusalem Arena. From there it will continue towards the heart of Jerusalem, along the Old City walls where you will race through history’s most famous sites which include; the old city of Jerusalem, Tower of David, Jaffa Gates, Mount Scopus, views of the Judea desert, Hebrew University, The Knesset, and Ein Karem.
Tel Aviv (TLV) is the best airport for flights from London Heathrow and other international airports.
We organise return airport transfers. In addition, we have the following specific tourist travel advice for Jerusalem:
Expect moderate temperatures so bring a range of cycling kit to cover rain, wind or sunshine. Tourism advice for religious sites, modest dress is required.
For women, a skirt or trousers at least covering the knees, sleeves at least halfway between shoulders and elbows. Nothing low-cut or revealing, no bare midriff. It is not necessary to cover one’s hair. You can take a wrap or shawl to cover yourself if you will be otherwise unsuitably dressed. Sandals are OK (stockings/tights are not necessary).
For men, shorts (but not very short) are generally OK and so is a T-shirt. At Jewish sites males must wear head covering – any kind will do, even a silly tourist hat. In some places men will be given (lent) a cardboard skullcap. It’s more respectful if you can at least do the minimum and have your own head covering.
West Bank – assuming you are going for tourism (and not political activism), no problems at all. Thousands of tourists visit Bethlehem as part of a pilgrimage, or just out of curiosity. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. Same with other West Bank cities.
Local bike hire is available. Please ask at the time of enquiry
