Saint-Jean-de-Sixt and Le Grand-Bornand are villages in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France not far from Mont Blanc, Lake Annecy and the Swiss border.
Both villages are situated in the Aravis Range of the French Alps. and the inhabitants are known as Saintjeandais or Saintjeandins. The inhabitants of Le Grand-Bornand are called Bornandins.
In addition, the area is home to a lot of great climbs including the Colombiere, Romme & Glieres as well as some climbs not featured in the race including the Aravis.
This village has a number of good bars and restaurants and a few smaller shops.
Geneva is the closest airport with regular flights from the UK and all over the world. Travel time is approx. 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport to Le Grand Bornand.
Weather should be reasonable during the month of July, however as always, time of day will have an impact on temperature so layers are often advisable for the start, ensuring early morning insulation. We advise bringing arm & leg warmers for the high mountains and descents.
